Teach the secret. Weaken the spell.

Sharing a protective spell helps new people use it, but shortens how long it can protect anyone. Who gets taught first?

What the rule allows

Mystical Re-enactment draws magic from occult knowledge. In the reference guide, less widely known corresponding lore produces stronger effects.

Where it stops

This is a specific pathway ability. It does not mean every secret, rumor or ordinary fact automatically becomes a spell.

CUESHELF INTERPRETATION

Put it under pressure

Original scene test: a protective song works only for the person singing it with understanding, once per person until dawn. Restarting does not refill the time. Teaching more people lets them protect themselves, but reduces every singer’s duration. The keeper cannot protect a crowd simply by singing to it.

CUESHELF INTERPRETATION

Design the response

In your version, define what counts as learning, when the loss takes effect, and who can be protected without learning. Otherwise the characters may share the benefit without ever facing the cost.

AN ORIGINAL VARIATION

Your next design decision

A keeper knows a song that protects only its own singer, and only if that person understands it. Each person gets one use until dawn; restarting does not refill the time. With one knower the protection lasts an hour; every new person taught halves everyone’s duration, including the keeper’s. An exposed path takes ten minutes to cross. Teaching one refugee gives both thirty minutes; teaching two gives all three fifteen; teaching a third drops everyone below the crossing time. The effect changes as soon as someone learns, so crossing in batches does not reset it. The keeper must decide who to teach while the others seek shelter or a shorter path.

Who gets one of the first lessons, and what can the others do before another lesson makes the crossing unsafe for everyone?
