What the rule allows

A Winner can accumulate luck through restraint and draw on it at critical moments. The guide describes a degree of control over fortune, not unrestricted control over every outcome.

Where it stops

A reserve has to be built. Lower stages experience fluctuating passive luck rather than the same deliberate control.

CUESHELF INTERPRETATION

Put it under pressure

Scene test: a rescuer has saved their fortune for a dangerous crossing. An accident on the way demands a choice between spending the reserve on strangers and keeping it for the promised rescue.

CUESHELF INTERPRETATION

Design the response

For your own version, show a visible balance and a limited effect before the crisis. Let the reader see an earlier gain and spend. The source guide does not supply the token counter used in the independent example below.

AN ORIGINAL VARIATION

Your next design decision

Independent rule: each uneventful night lights one bead on a keeper's bracelet, up to three. Spending a bead makes one physically possible small accident go her way; it cannot create objects or guarantee a whole rescue. She has three lit beads and a rescue fleet due at dawn. A falling stranger needs a rope snagged within reach now. Spending a bead can arrange that snag, but leaves only two chances for the damaged lighthouse winch the fleet will need. The bead goes dark when used; helping normally costs no luck.

Show one bead being earned or spent before this scene. What ordinary rescue method can the keeper try before choosing to spend another?
