Put it under pressure
Scene test: a protagonist dismisses one environment as unreal while someone there asks for protection. Waiting for certainty can itself abandon a person.
When two realities make competing demands, choosing an explanation is already an action.
In the English opening, Li Huowang moves from a dangerous cultivation setting to a hospital, where his experience is treated as a hallucination. The story places incompatible accounts of his situation side by side.
The first two chapters do not establish a reliable, freely controllable travel power. This study does not resolve which account is true or assign a universal cost to his later abilities.
Scene test: a protagonist dismisses one environment as unreal while someone there asks for protection. Waiting for certainty can itself abandon a person.
Make both accounts causally coherent enough to create a real dilemma. A later reveal should explain earlier evidence, not erase arbitrary contradictions.
Independent example: a technician experiences two incompatible rooms at the same time, with the same hand resting on a lever in both. In an observatory, a colleague behind glass says pulling it will vent smoke from his chamber. In an emergency ward, a nurse says it will disconnect a patient's oxygen. The technician sees smoke in one room and a falling oxygen reading in the other. She cannot pull in one without experiencing the pull in both. Each person can answer questions, but neither can see the other's room.
What quick check or alternative aid can the technician request before acting, and what will she do if the evidence still conflicts?

Give a displaced protagonist someone who expects an ordinary promise to be kept before the new world is understood.
Start with physical evidence that permits two explanations, then let the character test one detail.
