An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge: Parts 1 and 3, the watch, apparent escape and final return to the bridge.
Farquhar stands on a bridge awaiting execution. His attention moves between his family, the stream and a strangely loud, slow sound.
The sound resolves into his watch; drifting wood seems slow. The later escape has unnaturally intense sensations and an uncanny homeward journey. The final sentence returns to his dead body beneath the bridge.
This device can frustrate readers if it cancels consequences they were promised. Avoid claiming it is a factual account of what dying consciousness experiences.

Selected passages: Parts 1 and 3, the watch, apparent escape and final return to the bridge.
Unusually stretched time and sharpened sensations establish a gap between the experience being narrated and an ordinary outside view. Those details must matter when the scene is reconsidered. They let the reader look back at evidence already present instead of being told that nothing they read counts.
Choose a brief event and write how fear or desire changes its apparent duration for your viewpoint character. Plant one checkable outside cue, then keep the sensory account consistent with the later explanation. Decide what emotional choice or understanding remains meaningful after the reveal.
