One object. Two completely different stories.
Write a scene in which two people claim the same ordinary object. Both are telling the truth.
01
Start here
Choose a cheap item: a mug, a coat, a library card. Put it between them.
02
Try this constraint
Never use the words “mine,” “yours,” or “stole.” Let ownership emerge through details.
03
Keep writing
Reveal that one person recognizes its damage and the other recognizes its repair.
Two ways to take it further
- Switch the viewpoint after the first demand.
- End with a use for the object that neither claimant expected.
